DONJON DES AIGLES

THE DUNGEON OF THE EAGLES

A life-size show that will surprise you!

It is on the old castle ruins of Beaucens in the south-west of France, 2 minutes from Lourdes, that you will find an impressive collection of raptors. A fantastic and enchanting flight is waiting for you, and will leave to the little ones beautiful childhood memories.

The eagles dungeon is one of the most important activities of the Gaves Valley. Adults entrance is at 14 € and children at 8 € 50, includes a visit of the zoological park for a discovery of the different species, and an hour and a half show.

Access to the park is presented in the form of a pedagogical path, thanks to parchments and materialized by a signpost presenting the fifty species and their biology.

The master falconers have been able to re-use the work of “affaîtage” to create a real complicity with their birds of prey, which made it possible to create the spectacle, where the birds plunge into a game of diving, voltiges and pirouettes, passing just a few centimeters above the heads of the public. Those who want to make the most of it are advised to place themselves in the center and get surprised, the most fearful may take place on the sides.

The site is open from the beginning of April (Spring holiday), until the end of September. Opening hours are from 10 am to 12 am and from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Free flights are scheduled every day from 3:30 pm to 5 pm.

THE SITE

The castle dating from the fourteenth century belonged to a family of Viscounts, it is listed under the title of historical monuments.

Raptors are nocturnal and diurnal birds protected by law since the 1970s. Killing them or capturing them from the wild is prohibited. Before, these animals were considered harmful and were tracked down and eliminated. Most species are now extinct or endangered. In France awareness campaigns are conducted.
