Etal 36, the café by the market stalls…

If you are looking for an address to have a coffee, a meal or share a drink with friends, this is the place to go … l’Etal 36. Located in the heart of the Brauhauban market square in the towncenter of Tarbes, Etal 36 welcomes you with a large sunny terrace in summertime which  is heated as of the first cool autumn days; its warm setting will bring about surprising moments. 

At the origin of this project, three young friends, rugby teammates and party colleagues. The idea came to them to create the place where they would feel at home, a place where they would have liked to meet to have a beer or enjoy a good glass of wine before a game … so it is normal that each of us feels cosy and comfortable there.

Once inside, you will discover a relatively small room, in an industrial setting, with its large wooden tables making you think of a Spanish atmosphere,  and its kitchen opened onto the lounge area allowing you to see the chef cook and everyone to communicate.

This friendly atmosphere can be felt just past the doorstep. From a breakfast to an aperitif through lunch and snacks, at each time of the day, its clientele, making it an establishment appreciated by all. Etal 36 is the rendezvous of many rugby or soccer fans who come around to watch the games over a few drinks. It is not uncommon to come across rock groups or dj’s from the local scene ready to keep you company you until 2am.

Its location is wonderfully well exploited by the chef, for you will find every day on the menu regional specialties revisited with fresh products directly from the market stalls of the « Halle Brauhauban » just next door.  Today’ s Special is served at lunch time, and – at all times of the day- but more especially in the evenings, one may choose to share tapas made with local products and offers an ‘a la carte » selection of over 30 varied tapas. To be mentionned among deserts, Etal36’s dessert specialty: a cream of milk on a speculos mixed with fruits … a treat! The region of « La Bigorre » is honored with a true identity found in these tapas!

This wine bar holds at your disposal a map showing the routes to travel from one vineyard to another throughout our region and  adapted to each budgets. A real place for amateurs.

« Philosophical cafés » gatherings take place, once a week in the afternoon and welcomes anyone eager to exchange on philosohical topics or maybe just to come and  listen.

In short, Etal 36 is an ideal local styled pub to spend a while, where everyone can find its place, in a region which is a great place to live in!!

Open from 7 am to 2 am, 7 days a week. Daily Special for 10 €, Tapas from 5 €.
